Nicole Dadamio – May 2019 Member of the Month

Congratulations to Nicole Dadamio, our May 2019 Member of the Month! Nicole has been a member of Inspire Fitness & CrossFit Sona since October 2015.

Nicole is a special education teacher in the Oak Tree program at Broome Tioga BOCES. She specializes in and serves students that have autism.

“I am passionate about teaching and helping others. I love my students and all the opportunities that come with it. Outside of school I am a board member of Alive with Autism and the head coach of Binghamton Girls Lacrosse. I also love to exercise and be active! I look forward to getting my CrossFit or run in every day,” Nicole said.

CrossFit has become a huge passion for Nicole, helping her overcome physical and mental barriers and serving as an outlet for stress relief.

She said, “I never thought I’d be able to do a pull up or compete in a CrossFit competition, but I have done all of that and so much more. CrossFit has made me stronger, physically and mentally. I love being strong and knowing that I can do anything I set my mind to.”

Nicole competed in her second CrossFit Worldwide Open this year and finished in the top 17% of the scaled open women’s division, bettering her 2018 performance which placed her in the top 24%.

“We encourage all of our athletes, regardless of where they currently are with fitness ability, to officially participate in the Open each year, if not solely for the purpose of measuring their progress over a 12-month period of time. Nicole’s improvement from 2018 to 2019 clearly shows how hard she works. We are very proud of how far she has come in a little less than 4 years”, said coach, Traci Meier.

Coach, Trish O’Neill said, ” Nicole’s success as an athlete and competitor is the result of her decision to make fitness a priority. Even with the responsibility of teaching full time and coaching Lacrosse, she finds her way to the gym consistently. Nicole is a go-getter. She is always pushing herself beyond her comfort zone to gain that extra edge toward improvement. As a workout partner, she will inspire you to do your best and push you beyond what you thought capable. For Nicole, it’s not just a workout, it’s an opportunity to improve herself day after day.”

Nicole told us what she loves most about CrossFit Sona is the people. “Obviously I love the CrossFit classes, but it is the coaching staff and other athletes who make it an easy commitment to keep,” she said.

The encouragement and support from the community makes those days when the Assault bike shows up in the daily workout much easier to push through. Nicole admits she is not the biggest fan of ‘that dang thing’!

Coach Kerry Murphy told us, “Nicole has been consistently putting in the time to improve her overall health and fitness. She sets goals and crushes them. She took 2nd place in our January nutrition challenge and her team, The Double D’s, took 1st place in our first annual Sona Slam competition last October. Her success is inspirational! She is a role model to our community.”

Here is what Coach Jessica Rocco had to say about Nicole, “She is a determined athlete. When given a challenge she fights hard for what is asked of her. She pushes everyone around her and is a motivator.  She is stronger then she realizes and it is an honor to have her in my classes.”

“CrossFit Sona has one of the most amazing teams of coaches. Every single one knows every member and can modify or tweak a workout based on their needs. No matter the size of a class group, they always find the time to work with you and push you further in the workout. This gym has become a part of my family, I love seeing everyone every day and I love seeing them succeed and pushing themselves beyond limits they never knew they had,” Nicole said.
